Abstract

"This report provides an overview of the reconstruction of the sliding doors of Hanshan and Shide painted by Yosa Buson in Myōhōji temple. This project was carried out collaboratively by Myōhōji temple and the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (Tobunken) in 2021-2022. [...] 'Seeking Lost Images of Hanshan and Shide: A Miracle in the Cultural Properties Archives', by Emura Tomoko, describes the circumstances and timeline of this project. 'Reconsideration of Hanshan and Shide by Yosa Buson in Myōhōji Temple', by Yasunaga Takuyo, discusses the historical events concerning Buson's stay in Sanuki Province [present-day Kagawa Prefecture] and the evaluation of Hanshan and Shide within his oeuvre by comparing it with other examples of Hanshan and Shide by various artists."-- Pages 158-159.
