    • "Hippolyte (1809-1864), Paul (1811-1902) and Auguste (1804-1842) Flandrin, originally from Lyon, were among the most important painters on the French art scene in the mid-19th century. This book presents their work in the light of recent research and discoveries - including the restoration of the decorations in the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris - bringing together a corpus of nearly three hundred and fifty works, many of which have never been published before. It focuses on revealing the creative process of the three brothers, as well as their original collaborative practice. Through the pages and themes, it invites us to discover their career, from their training with Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres to their great achievements, by questioning their formal language and the way in which it is part of the interplay of influences or responds to singular traits. This exploration ends with an evocation of their heritage, from Degas to contemporary creation."--https://www.boutiquesdemusees.fr
