Signed Ingres and Delacroix, Burne-Jones and Tissot, Baudry and Gerome, paintings of the XIX th century that are the hallmark of Nantes art museum often seem part of an "uncanny". The special spirit of this impressive collection - 700 paintings by 90 artists among the most prestigious, French, but also English, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian - is explained by the choice of acquisitions made since the XIX th century.
