Imitationen: systematische Zugänge zu einem kulturellen Prinzip des Mittelalters
Abstract
Imitation and mimesis are cultural phenomena that span epochs. But how do you recognize, analyze or evaluate imitation in the Middle Ages? The volume presents various disciplinary methods and approaches and explains them using relevant examples. For the Middle Ages, imitation can be seen as a highly complex cultural technique that has been underestimated so far. Its potential was not only to preserve traditions, but also to bring about innovations.
