Abstract

Presents a study of the German Romantic painter Ernst Helbig (1802-1866) along with a catalogue raisonné of his work. Helbig is noted for his landscape paintings of the Harz Mountain area in Germany. The catalogue of 128 works includes the artist's paintings, drawings, and prints, and is supplemented by numerous full-page illustrations, many of which are in color. The catalog concludes with a collection of source documents relating to the life of the artist between 1835 and 1852.
