Emile van der Kruk

Abstract

Emile van der Kruk mainly works in wood. Because it is a living material, he can see from it how it has grown. He wrestles his sculptures with a chainsaw from the wood in an unconventional way. It produces basic and rough shapes that, except with paint, are not finished further. He does not remove traces of origin: they almost always remain visible, resulting in a sober effect? " - Wim Huijser. Sculpture Gallery Het Depot in Wageningen already owned about 20 statues, when sculptor Emile van der Kruk expressed the wish to donate a number of statues to the Depot. Recently the collection 'Emile van der Kruk place, in a separate building, on the grounds of Het Depot: location De Peppel.
