Brücke-Museum Berlin, Malerei und Plastik: kommentiertes Verzeichnis der Bestände : Sammlung der Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Stiftung
Abstract
The Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation has one of the largest collections of paintings of the pioneering "Brücke" co-founder Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. The previously unreleased complete collection of paintings and sculptures will be presented in this volume for the first time, in great detail. The collection of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation emerged from the legacy of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884-1976) and is managed by the Brücke Museum Berlin, includes the artist's paintings spanning five decades, with particular emphasis on the work period after the Second World War. Monumental forms, unreal proportions and perspectives, as well as the pure object-independent color in his works reveal an incredibly powerful magic and show timeless beauty of the quite elementary things of everyday life, nature and natural forces. The brilliant, large-format color illustrations allow indulgence in Karl Schmidt-Rottluff's color symphonies. The artistic quality of the individual works will be brought forth to the reader through in-depth and detailed commentary.
