"Beginning in the middle: conversations on the Post-Soviet explores the works, lives and travels of artists Umida Akhmedova, Babi Badalov, Saodat Ismailova, Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev, Taus Makhacheva, Yerbossyn Meldibekov, Almagul Menlibayeva, Furqat Palvan-Zade and Alexander Ugay. The conversations delve into questions of art and (de)colonisation in Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, most of which count over thirty years of independedce after Soviet occupation.
