The search for innovation is clear to see in this print. The seated lady with a view of a landscape in combination with the red title cartouche at the top left is reminiscent of prints from the 19th century. Yet there are also some 20th-century elements such as the Art Nouveau ringand lasp and the sitter’s direct gaze as she smokes a cigarette.
