Explanatory note

  • Januari 1898 werd het kerkelijk huwelijk voltrokken tussen jkvr. Dorothea Christina Minette van Benthem van den Bergh (1875-1956) en jhr. Henri Willem Roëll in Singapore, nadat de bruid eerst in Nederland met de handschoen was getrouwd. De bruid heeft een deel van deze zijden tule gebruikt voor haar bruidssluier. Vanuit Singapore reisde het paar door naar tabaksonderneming Bandar Klippa-Deli op Sumatra, waar Henri Roëll eerst assistent en later Administrateur was.
