IJzeren sliphaak voor spanwantschroeven, bestaande uit een U-vormig ijzer met in de bocht een L-vormige haak. De haak wordt aan de benen van het ijzer geborgd met een oog, dat met een dwarsstuk over de benen van het ijzer loopt.

Entry

Iron slip hook for turnbuckles. It consists of a U-shaped iron, enclosing an L-shaped hook; this hook is secured with an eye, which moves on the legs of the iron with a crosspiece.

This piece was found without catalogue number: its identification was by a process of elimination. The slip hook for turnbuckles was designed by W.C. Henker, Foreman of the longshoremen, and transferred to the Navy Model Room on 25 February 1882.2J.M. Obreen et al., handwritten inventory list for items 944 to 1431, 1884, manuscript in HNA 476 RMA, inv. no. 1089, no. 1425. The exhibitum referred to in the inventory3Exh. 6/2/1882 N63. could not be found.
