Shaving basin with the arms of Holland

Plates showing the heraldic emblems of provinces and towns were made in three styles. This plate and shaving basin represent the earliest style, identifiable by its pentagonal panels featuring luxury objects and Chinese figures.

  • Description

    Scheerbekken van porselein, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw en op het glazuur blauw, rood, groen, geel, aubergine, zwart en goud. Op het plat het gekroonde wapen met de leeuw en daaronder het opschrift 'HOLLAND'. Het wapen wordt omgeven door twee bloemtakken (pioen) en vier vlinders. De rand is bedekt met servetwerk onderbroken door uitgespaarde gelobde cartouches met dieren (hanen, geiten?). Tussen deze cartouches langs de rand telkens twee uitgespaarde, tegenoverelkaar liggende, geschulpte cartouches met prunustakken. De buitenwand met twee pioentakken. Wapenporselein met famillie verte.
