Pylades & Orestes

James Gillray (mentioned on object), 1797-04-01

During his years in England, the stadtholder enjoyed going on sightseeing trips and walks. As his vision deteriorated over time, he was often escorted by his personal secretary, Count Nassalin. This odd couple were routinely spotted on their frequent strolls through London’s streets. The title Pylades & Orestes refers to two inseparable friends from Greek myth.
