Pair of women’s shoes with pointed toe

anonymous, c. 1900 - c. 1910

In fashionable circles in the early 20th century, it was usual to dress for dinner, as well as when going out to the theatre or a concert. Gold-coloured shoes combined easily with all kinds of garments and lent a luxurious effect to the whole ensemble. These shoes belonged to a member of an aristocratic family who bought all their clothes in Brussels.
