Opening van de nieuwe trekvaart van Haarlem naar Leiden

Commemorative medal Medal struck to mark the opening of the barge route between Haarlem and Leiden in 1657. Almost every two hours a barge sailed in both directions along the 25-kilometre canal connecting the two cities. The centre of the medal shows the familiar Haarlem skyline with St Bavo's church. The Haarlem coat of arms is also shown.

    Zilveren penning. Voorzijde: onder wimpel met opschrift, gezicht op Haarlem met trekschuit; daaronder wapenschild geflankeerd door twee leeuwen temidden van krijgstuig binnen omschrift. Keerzijde: opschrift binnen krans van eikenbladeren en wapenschilden omwonden met wimpel met opschrift.
