Nightcap

In former times, when houses were unheated, it was customary to wear a nightcap in bed. This one has a knitted, scalloped edge with a repeating pattern of a potted shrub. On the crown, birds with long tail feathers face each other. A small knitted tab on the top of the cap serves as ornamentation.

    Slaapmuts van katoen, gebreid met een symmetrisch patroon van bomen en vogels. De muts heeft een aangebreide, geschulpte rand met repeterend patroon van een struik in een vierkante bak. Op de bol elkaar toegewende vogels met lange staartveren op een schuitvorm. Verwijzen ze naar de Hollandse tuin met de vrijheidsboom in het midden? Bovenop de muts een klein flapje.
