Model van een deel van het achterschip van een houten schip (stuurboordzijde), op een grondplank. Het model laat de kiel zien, de spanten met senten en een deel van de wegering en de schroefas. De spanten vlak voor en vlak achter de schroefas-pakking zijn verschillend van vorm, om de as ertussendoor te laten lopen. De pakking zit in een dik houten blok, aan de buitenzijde verstevigd met een getande metalen plaat en aan de binnenzijde met een dwarsscheeps liggende balk en metalen knie.

Entry

Wooden construction model of half the stern (starboard) of a wooden vessel, mounted on a base.

The model shows the keel, the frames with ribbands and part of the ceiling inside and the propeller shaft. The frames before and behind the gasket are of a different shape, to allow for the shaft to pass between them. The gasket is fitted in a thick block, reinforced on the exterior with a jagged metal plate, and on the inside with a beam and a metal knee.

Bruno Johannes Tideman (1834-1883) copied the frame construction from French examples.
