Lacquer panel with the names of the chief factors of Deshima

Listed on this panel are the names of all the Dutch directors who resided at the Netherlands’ trading post in Japan between 1610 and 1850, initially in Hirado, and from 1641 on Deshima. They controlled the Dutch– Japanese trade. The list also includes the number of ships that arrived and those that were lost at sea.

    Paneel met tympaanvormig opzetstuk, versierd met medaillon met aan weerszijden een guirlande en bovenop een strik. Het geheel wordt omsloten door een geprofileerde lijst. De lijst is versierd met guirlandes. Deze versieringen zijn ingelegd met parelmoer, evenals de lijnen die de kolommen op het bord markeren. Centraal het opschrift in vergulde letters. De namen van de opperhoofden van Deshima met jaartallen, de getallen van schepen zijn eveneens verguld.
