Krishna Overturning the Cart

This folio comes from the famous ‘Palam’ set that forms the earliest surviving illustrations for the tenth book of the Bhagavatapurana. Portrayed here is the much beloved episode of baby Krishna overturning a heavy wooden cart, depicted here twice as a green arch with a yellow border. Metal pots containing various fluids are scattered all around to the astonishment of everyone present.
