Military books. After 1600 a flood of military manuals appeared in the Republic. They dealt with many different aspects of military life, including logistics, the science of provisioning and billeting troops. Army exercises - practising gunnery and movements on the field - were also discussed in military literature. Logistics and exercises were important elements of the military doctrine which the army of the Republic had developed.

    Twee samengebonden boeken over krijgskunst voor het voetvolk en de cavalerie. In een perkamenten band verstevigd met karton. beide zijn vertalingen uit het Duits naar het Frans van militaire handleidingen, het eerste voor de infanterie (148 pp + illustraties), het 2de voor de cavalerie (135 pp + illustraties). Boek één is door de vertaler opgedragen aan Maurits, Prins van Oranje-Nassau, van wie een medaillonportret op de titelp. m.b.. Het 2de is opgedragen aan Frederik V van Palts. De rug is gebonden met repen perkament van een middeleeuws verlucht manuscript. Opschrift. Gesigneerd.
