Erwin Olaf has always navigated effortlessly between independent and commercial work. The core collection that he transferred to the Rijksmuseum in 2018 features examples of both. Among the lesser-known works is this photograph of thirteen girls. The French band Indochine used a variation of it for their thirteenth album (with thirteen songs) from 2017. Singer Nicola Sirkis is a fan of Olaf's work.
