Rijkswerf Vlissingen, c. 1845 - c. 1846

Gepolychromeerd beplankt mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. Het dek is gesloten en omringd door een reling met twee geschutpoorten; op het voor- en achterdek kan de verschansing met valpoorten neergelaten worden. Scherp voorsteven. Elliptisch hek, omringd door doorlopende reling, geen zijgalerij, sterk vallende achtersteven; roer met ronde roerkoning (Soetermeers versie) en afgerond roerblad. Zeeg nagenoeg vlak met opkomende boeg, één verzonken barkhout. Gepiekt rondspant, scherp onderwaterschip. Beide masten hellen naar achteren. Schaal 1:40 (schaal op model).

Entry

Polychromed and fully planked wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted white.

The side of the ship is fully planked over frame moulds and painted black. The deck is closed without any details. Two gun ports are recessed in the bulwark. The model has a clipper bow. The elliptical stern bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the sternpost is sharply raked. Below the stern a round-headed rudder of the Soetermeer-type with a rounded blade is indicated. The sheer is virtually flat with a raised bow. The wale cannot be distinguished from the planking. The hull is sharply S-bottomed and painted a metallic copper colour below the waterline. The keel drops slightly towards the stern. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form. Both masts are raked considerably. The mainmast is now missing, but its position is still visible.

The 6-gun schooner-brig Sarapoea, 28.5 metres long, was built by August Elize Tromp (1801-1871) in Flushing from 1845 to 1846.1J.M.
