Gezicht op Ternate en de rede van Ternate, de westkust van Halmahera ter hoogte van Jailolo in de verte, Noord-Molukken. Op de voorgrond twee zittende mannen, de één houdt het touw van een vlieger. De tekenaar bevindt zich op de hoogte van Kayu Merah (vervallen fort links) ten zuiden van de nederzetting en kijkt op de hoofdstraat en het huis van de sultan van Ternate tegenover de havenplaats.
