Fragment

Originally a bedspread, this fragment was repurposed into a chair cover in the course of time. It is decorated with a lotus blossom and carnation pattern in Indo-Persian style. Reusing fabric was common practice in the 18th century. For example, remnants of costly chintz were used for decorating doll’s houses, or as clothing for dolls and babies.
