Johannes Lodewijk Heldring (mentioned on object), 1901

In 1898 the Rotterdam clergyman Louis Heldring and five other religious leaders and their spouses undertook a trip to Egypt and Palestine. Heldring wrote travel accounts for a newspaper that were compiled in a book published in 1901. He had three copies rebound with blank pages on which he pasted his 162 photographs as presents for his three children for the Feast of St Nicholas.
