Crampton Locomotive at the Great Exhibition in 1851

Spicer Brothers, 1852

It took many months before all 21,000 impressions were made (by hand!) that filled the 137 copies of these jury reports. The slow pace was caused not only by the fact that every step of the process had to be done by hand, but also because it depended on sunlight, which was not always sufficiently present.
